ALL FERRIES ARE SAILING TO SCHEDULE
Sneem International Storytelling & Folklore Festival
11th - 13th November 2016
The third annual Storytelling Festival took place from 7th - 9th November 2014 and was well attended and supported by Failte Ireland.
The Festival was similar to previous years: telling in the barn, lectures, children’s workshops, tours and story swaps.
Friday’s storytelling included Mike Mazur - USA, Michael Harvey - Wales, Nuala Hayes - Dublin, Pat Speight and Teddy Black - Cork, and Batt Burns – Kerry and music from Sliabh Luachra musicians. Many children were mesmerised by the Storytellers at their workshops. Radio Kerry’s Frank Lewis displayed the festival hosting Mike Mazur, Michael Harvey and 2 Young Tellers at their Killarney studios. Seven Young Tellers this year amazed us with their talent and confidence at the mic.
On Saturday, Aidan Dooley brought to life Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer in his fabulous one-man show. Our biggest audience to date thanked him with a spontaneous standing ovation. Then the pubs were full until late as the Storytellers visited the village (the ever popular Sonny Egan joined us on the pub trail). TG4 phoned us early Saturday and arranged to film Sunday for their Naucht programme section, Voice of the Community which aired the 16 November at 7.00 pm.
We are proud of the quality of the festival we presented and grateful for the support we were given from everyone.
